So I just learned that General Motors has an engine plant in Buffalo. I've lived in CNY my whole life and I'm just now learning this. Well I guess it's also where they make the LT1, and they're the only plant that does.

I was under the impression nothing cool had come out of Buffalo since '38.

I didn't even know there was a plant there. It's nice to know that all C7's are powered by an engine built in my state though.

Tonawanda Powertrain has been around for a very long time!
They built all kinds of cool stuff, like the 1969 ZL-1s and a large number of factory big blocks. I want to actually say all of them but I'm sure there are some exceptions.

Yeah 1938 is a long time. I still don't know how I didn't know this was there when I was in Buffalo last October. I know Chrysler had a transmission plant in Syracuse but that closed last year.

This just reminded me of how much I hate that GM reuses engine codes I was going to comment on Optispark than remembered the LT1 is the new stingray motor.

yep, Drive by Tonawanda Powertrain on my way home from work every day. We also used to have American axle. Though technically neither are actually in Buffalo. Pierce Arrow museum however, is in the city (1 mile from my house).

Well I use Buffalo loosely as no one unless they're in WNY or CNY really know where Tonawanda is, Buffalo has lost a lot of they're industry recently. Didn't Kellogg's just close?

Yeah, just being pedantic. ;)
Kelloggs left over the winter, however we still have General Mills to make the outer harbor smell like toasted oats. Also Elon Musk is building a solar panel factory on the Republic Steel site next to Ford's stamping plant in south Buffalo.
